Obtaining of base oils or carrier oils
To dilute the essential oils, fatty oils are used, they are obtained first from fruits or seeds by means of diverse processes: By means of extraction and refining, or by means of being cold or hot pressed. The only process that doesn't influence the quality and the quantity of the active principles of the oils is the cold pressed, but since with this process a smaller quantity of product is obtained, the fatty oils are the most acceptable by aromatherapy and are normally relatively expensive.
Many fatty oils contain ingredients that provide magnificent healing and cosmetic properties that are fully taken advantage of when making the mixtures for massages.
Obtaining and benefits of macerated oils
Those macerated also offer us a wide span of possibilities, and they are obtained in the following way: parts of another plant are left submerged in fatty oil during several weeks and exposed to sun light – this way the oil captures the active principles of the plant.
For the therapies using oils and immersion go very well for the skin, generally neutral in scent and/or of very energetic healing properties.
