Appropriate use of vaporizer

With a vaporizer it is very easy to give a room a magnificent fragrance, to improve the atmosphere, to increase concentration, to improve the state of mind and to alleviate a physical or spiritual symptom.

Electric vaporizers exist with flame lamps, and they can be made of ceramic, glass or alabaster. To make it easier to clean a collapsible plate is very practical.

The size of the plate in relation to the distance that separates it from the source of heat is important: the smaller the plate is, the quicker it will warm the water. But the temperature should not exceed 55 ºC or 131 ºF, and it should never be allowed to boil. If the water ends up boiling, it will evaporate too soon, the oil would burn and the aroma and the effect would not be the desired effect.

Security is most important

Important: For reasons of security, in hospitals and in residences for the elderly it is only allowed to use electric vaporizers. They are also the most appropriate for children’s rooms.

Always keep the vaporizers and the essential oils outside of the reach of sensitive people and children.

Tips for using a vaporizer

1) First fill the plate with water and then add the essential oil drops. If distilled water is used it will avoid the formation of calcium carbonate deposits. It is not suitable to use mixtures with fatty carrier oils.
2) Use minimum quantities. My recipes are calculated for rooms with a volume of 16 cubic meters. The aroma must be soft. If you find it to be too strong, put out the vaporizer.
Since the aromatization must always be something exceptional, one or two hours are enough.
3) Don't empty the vaporizer in the sink, because the resins could leave stains. Pour the remains directly in the drain and wash the plate well, or add them to water for watering (in about 10 liters of water) or to an environmental humidifier. If the plate of the vaporizer has remains of resin they can be cleaned with alcohol. The calcareous deposits are eliminated easily with vinegar.

Please note: It is not indispensable to use a vaporizer. At first, or when you go on a trip, you can use in small plate or an ashtray with hot water. In winter you can place the receptacle on a heat radiator.

Very dense oil

Some essential oils, as those of benzoin, mimosa or khus-khus, are so dense that they can only be dosed taking them with a spatula or with a glass rod (they sell these in natural products or cosmetic stores). The quantity that remains stuck to the bar is approximately equal to a drop. If the oil doesn't drip it will be necessary to shake the bar in the oil carrier, hydrosol or alcohol.
In the vaporizer it will be that the oil is dissolved on it before adding the water.
